Galaxy S2: I9100 // [ROOT] TriangleAway v1.25

This app can reset your flash counter and triangle on ICS builds. The download is attached.

THIS IS A DANGEROUS OPERATION AND COULD POTENTIALLY BRICK YOUR DEVICE. PROCEED AT YOUR OWN RISK. A USB JIG IS PREFERRED IF YOU HAVE ONE.
( and by brick I mean brick - only a board replacement or a JTAG unit will be able to save you, don't mess with boot(loader) stuff unless you really mean it! )

Please check the values the app displays are correct before resetting the counters. There really isn't much more to say about it, except for the technical details, which most of you will likely skip.

Also, Samsung may well change behavior for this in the future, so with any major firmware updates you should check and doublecheck if this app still works before attempting a reset.

CHECK AND DOUBLE CHECK THE INFORMATION UNDER "CURRENT STATUS" IS CORRECT BEFORE RESETTING THE COUNTER !
( If triangle, counter, or device is not showing or not correct, DO NOT USE but report back here )

Note: using Triangle Away may unmount your SD card. Reboot or manually remount it from Android settings.

Technical details (Updated 13.02.2012)

The flash counter and triangle state had to be stored somewhere. Everybody knew that. Guesses have been made in the past where it could be, and I have personally compared the raw flash disk contents between different amount of custom flashes in the past, unable to find any differences. You can dump and compare the entire /dev/block/mmcblk0 and you won't find a difference (you'll find a few unallocated and unused gaps, though).

The solution comes with the new kernel uses by ICS builds. The flash disk actually has two hidden boot partitions, /dev/block/mmcblk0boot0 and /dev/block/mmcblk0boot1 . The MMC driver in the kernels used for Gingerbread did not present these partitions in the past, the MMC driver in the ICS kernel does.

Teamhacksung members said something about having found the location, so I retried locating the position on ICS. Until recently I had always ran the KH4 Gingerbread build because until the LPB ICS build USB host was not properly supported on ICS, and I need that for other apps I make. It's really easy to find now on ICS. Dump and compare the partitions and you'll have found them in no time. I've already done it, so here is the information.

Structure /dev/block/mmcblk0boot0 @ 0x00020000:

0x00020000 header magic: 32bit - 0x12340011
0x00020004 flash count: 16bit
0x00020006 future: 16bit - 0x0000
0x00020008 type: 16bit - 0x0000 unknown, 0x0001 custom (triangle), 0x0002 Samsung Official
0x0002000A name: max 16 chars
0x0002001A end: 16bit - 0x0000

The boot partitions are presented as readonly by default, but allowing modification is a simple matter of executing the following before writing the data:

echo 0 > /sys/block/mmcblk0boot0/force_ro

That should give you all the information you need to replicate this. A number of bytes trailing this structure also change between flashes and appear to be checksum related.

As stated above, this isn't easily doable on Gingerbread. That is also why this currently does not work on the SGNote. When ICS is released for the SGNote it'll probably be compatible out of the box, or trivial to make it compatible. I say on Gingerbread it is not easily doable, but it is not impossible. If you put a lot of effort into it, you can probably talk to the MMC device directly and modify these partitions, I personally don't feel it is worth the effort for Gingerbread, as (at the time of this writing) official ICS firmwares should be available for both the SGS2 as well as the SGNote very shortly.

Update 16.02.2012: Users have confirmed TriangleAway works on the I9220 SGNote ICS leak !

Yup, Here it is. After more or less one month of work with many tries, many fails, it's finally here.


Who am I? :

My name is Lucas, I'm 18, and I'm French.

My past devices are : HTC Desire => HTC Desire HD => GalaxyS2. I started working and modifying ROMs for myself, and then decided to share them .

About the ROM :

Base : 4.0.4 IMLK74 : FULL AOKP BASE FROM SOURCE AOKP Kanged from their repos by NetChip ( Thanks to him ! Without His Work, this ROM couldn't be what it is now.)

What can you expect? Well, Basically the sames bugs as CM9, and the Full AOKP user experience, with all their awesome mods.

It's has been tested by my beta testing team (OCmylife, Buzzboy, Khassanove .., Bigs thanks to them !)

It's Rockstable, nothing more nothing less. It's Blazing fast.

It contains Light Gapps. If you're missing some apps that are related to Google, go on and flash latest ICS Gapps. It has now the Galaxy S2 Settings, from CM9 !

'Bout the recovery. Stock, not touch. Some users don't understand how it works, and freak out because they can't use it or restore their beloved samsung ROMs() , so it's stock.

Oh, BTW, the FaceBook Sync works



Installation Instructions :

Transfer the zip file you downloaded above to your internal sdcard (not the external micro SD).
Turn off the phone, then boot into recovery mode. For this, press and hold these 3 buttons together until Samsung’s screen shows up: Volume UP+Home+Power.

Phone will boot into CWM recovery. Use volume keys to scroll up and down between options and power/home key to select an option.
Perform a wipe:
Select “wipe data/factory reset”. Then select “Yes” on next screen to confirm. (This will not touch your SD cards so don’t worry).
Go to “advanced” and then select “wipe dalvik cache”, then select “Yes” on next screen. Now, go back to main screen of recovery.

Select “mounts and storage”, then select “format system”. Select “Yes” on next screen to confirm. Go back to main recovery menu after system format is complete.
Then, select “install zip from sdcard”, then select “choose zip from sdcard”. Then, browse to the file you transferred to the sdcard in step 2 and select it.
Confirm installation on the next screen by selecting the option ”Yes — Install HyDrOXYG3NICS.zip“. The ROM will now start installing.
After installation is complete, select “go back” then select “reboot system now” to reboot the phone.

Go to http://www.android.com/filetransfer/ and download the dmg, drag the app into the application folder, now when you plug your phone in the app should open. You need the latest build posted by Paradoxxx on twitter as it fixed MTP.

Ultimate Call Screen HD Free

Ultimate Call Screen HD Free combines a Fullscreen Caller ID replacement, contact picture manager, call blocker, and, on top of that, sensor-base actions such as rejecting calls by turning the phone screen-down. All this on the same package.



Although there are some limitations on this free version, there is no limit whatsoever on the number of contacts you can personalize or block. There are no adds and no timeouts. I believe on added functionality for value, not crippling the app to force buys. You can buy the license an unlock the extra features on this app, either from looking for it on Google Play, or from a link on UCS Settings.

UCS has been tested from Froyo to ICS. You are able to pick up and hangup calls on android 2.3+ (which a lot of similar apps can't). UCS also works fully on HTC Sense devices (which again, other apps can't). This app was developed on a HTC Desire S running Sense 3.5 and android 2.3.5.

- Activate the "Block all incoming calls" feature: every single call will be blocked. Very useful if you don't want to be disturbed, but want to keep the phone turned on so YOU can make calls.

- Activate the "Whitelist mode". This allows you to invert the blocking selection, and all contacts NOT marked for blocking will be blocked. Very useful for defining a set of contacts able to call you no matter what, and block everyone else.

- Activate the "Block Unknown Callers" feature. If you're sure everyone that matters is on your phonebook, why be bothered by anyone else?
