Galaxy S3 will have 5 Capacitive Buttons at the Bottom.

3 May London Samsung Electronics will release the next generation of the Galaxy S series and according to a Samsung Official a total of five capacitive buttons are expected to be mounted.
The Samsung Electronics official said, “Galaxy S3 will feature a dedicated button to  ’S cloud’ and one for  ’speech recognition’, etc. In addition to  its predecessor there are two additional buttons mounted,” he said.
According to the Samsung Employee the S3 will sport design features of the Galaxy Nexus. Other interesting facts are that the Galaxy S2 is  in thickness and weight, 8.9mm thick and 121 G the S3 will be much thinner and lighter,with 7mm thin and the weight is expected to shrink even more than 2 ~ 3g.
The Galaxy S3 will sport a 4.8 inch Super AMOLED  HD display and will sport the new 1.5 GHz quad-core processors ‘the Exynos 4412′, and will run on Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich (ICS).
The Samsung employee says that the company had a huge debate whether to put Exynos 4412 (quad) or Exynos 5250 (dual) in the S3, because 5250 is superior, but in order to go with the advanced feel , they decided on the quad core proecssor.

Vodafone UK claims first dibs on the next Samsung Galaxy

Today Samsung released the first teaser for the UNPACKED event where we will see the next Galaxy smartphone flagship. The Galaxy S III will only be officially announced on May 3 in London, but Vodafone UK already wants you to know they will be selling it.


The operator has put a banner on its official website, which you can click to register your interest in the next Galaxy smartphone and subscribe for updates about it. So whatever the next big Samsung thing is and whenever it gets released – Vodafone UK will have it.
The fact that one of the large UK carriers will be offering the next Samsung flagship is hardly news, but the eagerness to announce that to the public really speaks volumes about the device itself.

Samsung Galaxy S III GPU benchmark pops up, tops charts

The yet unannounced successor to the Galaxy S II popped up briefly in GLBenchmark's results page to confirm that the S III (or whatever it's called) is the next top dog in droidland - GPU-wise. The results have since been hidden from prying eyes, which does give them an air of legitimacy.
The device, sporting a GT-I9300 monicker, does better than almost all the major players on today's market. In the off-screen 720p test, where raw GPU power is emphasized, it achieved 92.2 frames per second, beating the Tegra 3 and Adreno 225 GPUs by a lot and even gave the dual-core PowerVR SGX543MP2 inside the iPhone 4S a spanking. It did come short of the new iPad's quad-core PowerVR SGX543MP4 GPU, though.

While these are preliminary results, which will probably be different from the ones of the final product, they do point to a powerful GPU inside the next Galaxy flagship. Previous rumors pointed to the same Mali-400MP GPU architecture as in the Galaxy S II, but maybe Samsung is adding another core to it.
There isn't long remaining before we find out - the Samsung flagship will hit the stage on May 3 in London.

Next Galaxy teaser is out, urges you to stand out from the sheep

As expected, Samsung just launched their Next Galaxy teaser video. At the event on May 3 in London, Samsung is expected to unveil its highly anticipated Galaxy S II successor and, reportedly, a quad-core tablet. Enough with the chit-chat, here's the video itself.

We are yet to see if Samsung will succeed in converting more users to the Galaxy cause, but it's certain that the event will be the focus of everyone's attention. We are also interested to see if a certain Samsung competitor, which is currently in fierce legal battle with the Koreans, will provide some kind of response to the last part of the teaser video.

Samsung holding an event for the next Galaxy phone on May 3

Samsung has finally started sending out the official invites for the event in London on May 3 for the next Galaxy handset.

The invite doesn't say much but it's highly likely that it will be about the Galaxy S III (or whatever Samsung decides to call it). It's clear from the invite that Samsung is talking about only one device here, which makes us all the more certain that it is just the Galaxy S III that Samsung will announce. As far as the puddles of liquid seen in the invite, it could be nothing more than something used to fill up the invite image or something as exciting as an indicator for the device having a Liquidmetal body.
Samsung has taken its own sweet time with this device, even choosing to play it low at the popular Mobile World Congress this year, which is when companies make major announcements. Hopefully, this phone will live up to everyone's expectations.

This little hack will let you get the most out of your One X battery

The popular HTC One X has received praise from reviewers and users alike. But if there is one thing that a lot of people are having a problem with on the phone is with its battery life. Luckily, there now seems to be a fix to this problem.
A developer on xda-developers forums has found out that the poor battery life is due to an issue with the Nvidia Tegra 3 power management controls. The power control app, NvCPLSvc.apk, has been placed in the system/bin folder instead of the system/app folder. All you need to do is move this folder to its rightful location and that should give you about 10-20 percent boost in battery life, according to users.

Transparent Dual Display Phone Comes With Augmented Reality Features and More

Transparent phones are more than a fashion, they’re a thing of the future as one or two concepts have shown before. This time we have a dual display transparent handset on our hands, one created by Wenhing Chu & Kok Keong Wong and known as the Space 3.

The device uses two sliding transparent surfaces that attach to one another and form the smartphone. You can split them and still pair them most likely via wireless and this is very cool, since you get double the screen estate you’d normally benefit from. We must also mention that the screens have divided roles, as one is the Mother and the other one is the Lens.
You can shift from passive to active UI output and also you’ll interact via gestures with this handset if you want. Imagine the opportunities of the Lens screen: augmented reality: tons of photo taking options, great navigation services and landmark positioning on the map, augmented gaming and social networking. Incredible!

The Four Concept Tablet Has an Edge to Edge Display, Can be Used as Digital Painting

Marko Vuckovic created a very interesting tablet concept called the The Four, a multitouch AMOLED slate that measures 145 x 235 mm and it can be hung on a wall to serve as a digital painting. Notice that lack of bezels on this beauty, making me believe it’s an edge to edge screen affair.

The device shows weather forecasts, natural ambience and also has a travel option, allowing you to plan your flights and bus schedules, for examples. I consider this to be some sort of a photo frame with upgraded features, that include multimedia playback, beautiful 3D effects in the weather area and what looks like a very comfortable to use virtual keyboard. If they add voice command to the device you’d create a Dorian Gray experience, since you’ll be talking to the painting on the wall.
A tablet like this doesn’t even need much of a CPU or any fancy specs, since the originality of the design and the main photo frame feature are reason enough to buy it. It can also be marketed as a luxury product, since people with an Amazon Kindle Fire or iPad won’t feel the need to buy such a device. Interesting concept, that’s for sure!

Morning Dew Phone Has Exquisite Industrial Design, Beautiful Idea for a Charger

I suggest you put aside hardware and specs for this beautiful industrial design… this time it’s all about beauty and the way we incorporate nature into technology. Seunghan Song envisioned a device called Morning Dew Mobile, a mobile phone concept that’s more of a piece of art than a regular smartphone.

Well, for one thing we have a device that’s all rounded up, like a modern MP3 player would be. It’s a slide device with a circular control area that reminds me of the iPod a little bit, plus some very cool lighting effects. This handset has gradation of lights, that are made to look like waves of water when you look at the phone from above. When you slide up the device, the light effects move from the circular navigation area to the end of the numeric pad.
This would make a great fashion phone and if you throw in some environmentally friendly features, you’re all set. And then there’s the charger… a pink arc that allows the handset slide down on its surface like a drop of water on a petal, leaf or grass. As the device gets closer to the edge it becomes more and more charged, like the dew does in the morning with petals. What do you say of Seunghan Song’s work?

Nokia PureView Lumia Windows Phone 8 Units Looks Like a Conceptual Design

This is definitely a prototype of some sort, this Nokia Pureview Lumia, a device with Windows Phone 8 on board and a very unusual design. It would involve some very risky design choices from both Microsoft and Nokia and I’m not sure they’re ready to make the plunge into an extremely curved device with a big camera bulk…

This model is supposed to feature a 4.3 inch Curved Glass display with HD resolution, a 41 megapixel camera sensor, similar to the one on the Nokia PureView model shown at MWC 2012. This camera would use Carl Zeiss lens, PureView imagine technology and support 1080p full HD recording and rich recording technology. Inside the Lumia PureView you’d find a dual core processor with Adreno 320 GPU, most likely the Qualcomm S4 CPU that’s been everywhere lately, from the HTC One series to the ASUS PadFone.
Finally I can’t help but notice that the Home button on the device sports the Windows 8 logo. Will Windows Phone 8 finally achieve that platform unification we’ve heard rumors about, between Win 8 and WP7? In the end I can’t help but ask you: do you see this as a real device or merely a prototype that will change design when it’s finalized?

Google Project Glass Could Be the Future of Mobile Computing; Sergey Brin Spotted Wearing These Glasses!

Remember the Google Vision glasses concept we’ve shown you days ago? Turns out that Google was actually working on a REAL pair of glasses that show you your email, Google Maps, augmented reality and whatnot. Dubbed Project Glass this Google initiative is so real, that some have speculated we could expect a release by the end of the year.

There’s a video demo below, in case you have more questions. These are augmented reality glasses, that Sergey Brin, Google co-founder was seen wearing this week (last picture below) at the San Francisco Dining in the Dark charity event. He was sporting a prototype, as he told people himself. Apparently at some point during his presence at the event Sergey had a bluish light flashing off the right eye, so maybe it was a notification. How cool is that? The guys of The Verge spoke with Brin, who didn’t want to comment on the release, but it seems that Google wants as much feedback on these glasses as possible.
As shown in the video below, the pair of glasses may actually focus on a single eye in the end and it will include a camera, allow you to take pictures, do voice commands, videocall people, write stuff on Google+ via dictation and check in using Google Maps and Google+. You can search for stuff instantly, find locations in real time using augmented reality and get tiny notifications in teh corner of your eye. Are we ready for technology like this?

Samsung Galaxy S III Yet Again… This Comes With HSPA+, 32GB of Storage, Tegra 3 CPU

There’s already a pretty big section of Samsung Galaxy S III concepts on our website and it’s increasing each week, as people send us their designs and visions on the upcoming Samsung flagship phone. And today we have a fresh render, one done by Long-Nong Huang and sporting some 2012 realistic specs, but a CPU choice that may seem strange for people in the know.

I’m talking about the quad core processor Nvidia Tegra 3 aka Kal-El, available in a 1.3 GHz flavour on this smartphone. The Samsung Galaxy S III we have here also uses 1.5GB of RAM, a 4.65 inch Super AMOLED HD display with 326 ppi, an 8 megapixel 3D camera with Xenon flash and a case that measures 7.42mm. The device weighs 118 grams, uses a rubberized plastic body and a 1750 mAh battery. As far as memory goes, the new Galaxy S unit will rely on 32GB it will have no microSD card slot, it also brings HSPA+ or LTE, NFC, Bluetooth 3.0 and USB 3.0.
Induction charging is also supported, as the designer claims. Looking at this phone mockup, I imagine a combo between the Samsung Galaxy S II and the Galaxy Nexus and those Android 4.0 buttons under the display sure looks interesting. It’s a nice touch to keep the classic Home button of the Galaxy series and add the multitasking one and the Back button in capacitive form.

Samsung Galaxy Nexus+ Concept and a New Design for Android 5.0 UI

After yesterday’s showcasing of the Motorola Nexus RAZR concept, we have another Android 5.0 phone on our hands. This Jelly Bean device has been created by Hasan Kaymak and goes by te name Samsung Galaxy Nexus+. The device features a 4.5 inch Full HD display and a quad core processor.

There’s also an 8 megapixel camera on board, Google Voice+, a feature that’s just like Siri (or even better) and some extra UI functions. For example, the designer imagined an editable Status Bar, Dock (color, style, icons) and also a tweakable Menu style. From what I can see, the design is not totally different from the Samsung Galaxy Nexus, since it’s a Plus model afer all, like the Galaxy S II Plus and Galaxy S Plus. This means that it only adds a minor improvement or two.
In this case the improvement is particularly the CPU and mainly the camera, something that people complained about on the original Galaxy Nexus, that only had a 5Mp sensor. Android 5.0 Jelly Bean looks nice and keeps very much of the Android 4.0 design styling, so I can’t really figure out any design additions. The back button looks a bit modified, unless I’m mistaking…

Android 5.0 Concept and Potential Codename for Android 6.0 Unveiled

Shaik Imaduddin sent me an email last month, containing both a concept for the Motorola Nexus RAZR, plus a bunch of Android 5.0 Jelly Bean screenshots he created. First, we have the Home screen, with the same 3 virtual buttons at the bottom, plus some sort of notification area at the bottom right, just like in Honeycomb.

It’s interesting to see the notification area moved to the bottom, through a semicircular area that separates the main functions/dock of the phone from the 3 main Android capacitive buttons. The notifications bar actually rises this time, instead of descending from the top of the screen, which may not be a bad idea after all, especially since it still allows you to see part of the Home screen that you usually operate on. There’s also an Android 5.0 Voice Assistant feature, that’s shown through a microphone icon at the top.
You can simply access it from anywhere, by swiping from the top of the screen. If this assistant actually opens apps, something that Siri doesn’t, then I’m happy! And finally, the information that the next Android after Jelly Bean will be called Key Lime Pie, has surfaced on the web, so I thought I should post a picture of the dessert, so you all know what the next mascot may look like. Samsung Galaxy S III New “Press Render” Looks Reaaally Thin!

Bob Freking was unhappy with the recently leaked Samsung Galaxy S III press render, so he took it and modified it a bit, with the result being the render below. Now that’s what I call good rendering! You can see that nifty Home button, a speaker grille at the top and one at the bottom, a design decision I can’t quite understand to be honest.

The design is very, very slim and the camera sensor doesn’t bulk out like on the Galaxy S II, which is a good thing. The display may not look like edge to edge material, but it’s big enough and close enough to the bezel to make the handset look even more appealing. The latest development in the series of rumors about the new Galaxy S is that a guy at Samsung said that the new device will use a quad core Exynos chipset with integrated LTE chips as well.
This means that Samsung keeps the production of the connectivity chips in house and doesn’t rely on Qualcomm this time. Other rumors talk about a 4.7 inch Super AMOLED Plus HD screen, 2 GB of RAM and a 12 megapixel camera. Supposedly you’ll be able to buy the Samsung Galaxy S III from June…

Google Vision Glasses Concept Look Cool as They Replace Phones for Good

Google is rumored to be working on a pair of glasses that would rid us of the need for a phone or tablet, integrating the social search and picture taking into a gizmo that’s as thin as a pair of glasses and can be worn on the front of the head, like a regular accessory. Now Federico Ciccarese took the idea and developed it into a concept called Google Vision, that you can see below.

The concept was created for Business Insider and you can see more pics on their website. As shown here, Federico imagines a single lens device, that would make you look like a Terminator or Old Snake from the game Metal Gear Solid 4. It has the classical Android buttons on the edge, at the back of the head and a camera discretely attached near the lens. It’s a straight design with tubular shapes linked to each other seamlessly. This headset with glasses is able to take pics using an UI similar to the one in Android 4.0 and it also comes with voice command and GPS tracking.
You get Google Maps and the latest emails and Google+ social stats straight to your eyeballs, an interesting feat, as well as the display of the album covers when you listen to music. I wonder how much this invention would impair the user and how much it will affect interacting with the real world… I’m pretty sure Google will reveal something soon concerning their plans for the real Glass project.

New Galaxy S III render leaks in a purported press invite

Another day, another Galaxy S III leaked image. This one appears on a press release (whose authenticity is yet to be confirmed) and we must say, of all the ones we have seen till now this one looks the most realistic to us.

The press image just shows a part of the phone, where we can see a sleek metal casing that tapers and bends backwards towards the bottom, with the display infusing seamlessly on the front. Strangely, there is no micro USB port at the bottom, as is usually the case with recent Samsung devices. The sides have been scooped out but there are no visible keys in the picture.
The press release announces May 22 as the launch date for the handset, with London being chosen as the venue for the launch. We'll just have to wait and see how much of this comes true.

Samsung I9300 to have a 4-inch 720p AMOLED display

The latest bit of information talks about some of the specs of the device. For starters, the phone is said to have a 4-inch, 1280 x 720 resolution, AMOLED display. No mention of the sub-pixel arrangement has been made but we are willing to bet it's PenTile RGBG. Not that it would matter, because with a pixel density of a mind-boggling 367 PPI, you're not going to notice any difference at all.
The processor is said to be one of Samsung's Exynos SoC, with a dual-core 1.4GHz CPU and Mali-400 MP GPU. There will be 1GB of RAM and the phone will be running on Android 4.0.3 Ice Cream Sandwich.
That's all there is to know right now. We're sure more info will surface soon as we near the expected launch in May.

Android in March: Gingerbread keeps growing, ICS on the rise too

Google released their monthly Android Platform version statistics and they show that the Gingerbread line is still on the rise (in fact, it grew the most), despite being succeeded by Ice Cream Sandwich.
The good news is that obsolete versions (pre-Eclair) now account for just 1% of all Android devices, with rusty Eclair itself sitting at 6%. Froyo is declining, but still commands - 23.1%. It debuted a little less than two years ago, so it will probably hold on to a considerable share for a little white longer.
Gingerbread keeps growing, despite several devices getting the ICS update, and currently holds a 63.2% share. ICS phones that dazzled as at the MWC are just hitting the shelves, so there isn't much to drive adoption up (besides the Galaxy Nexus and the updated devices).
Anyway, here's the table with the new OS version shares for March and how they changed compared to February:

Android 4.0 ROM leaks for AT&T version of the Galaxy Note

The folks at RootzWiki have managed to get their hands on the official Android 4.0 ROM for the AT&T version of the Samsung Galaxy Note. They tested the ROM and other than a few minor issues found it to be stable enough for everyday use.

Features such as LTE connectivity, phone calls, audio quality, stereo Bluetooth, MMS, GPS, etc. were found to be working as expected and then of course there are the ICS specific features such as face unlock found in this ROM.

There are some changes compared to the Gingerbread version, such as Samsung Planner being renamed to simply Calendar and new calendar and memo widgets.

As for the aforementioned minor issues, the launcher is said to crash on the first launch and when you add a Google account but works fine thereafter. This ROM also lacks the Premium Suite of apps that Samsung promised in the official update.
